Celebrate Breeders’ Cup week with an unforgettable evening of live blues at Lexington’s Historic Lyric Theatre.
The official Breeders’ Cup Purple & Blues Concert brings together the electrifying blues-rock sound of Ally Venable, the authentic Kentucky blues tradition of Tee Dee Young, and the soulful voice of Patricia Mathis. The artists will present individual performances and special collaborative moments during a stylish night filled with blues, culture, and Breeders’ Cup spirit.
Set inside one of Lexington’s most important cultural landmarks, Purple & Blues offers an intimate concert experience where Kentucky heritage, historic performance, and contemporary blues come together on the Lyric stage.

Tee Dee Young
The Lexington native has performed blues music for more than five decades. A 2022 Kentucky Music Hall of Fame inductee, he is celebrated for combining traditional blues with gospel, rhythm and blues, and his unmistakable Kentucky style.
Patricia Mathis
A featured vocalist bringing soulful expression and dynamic stage presence to the Purple & Blues Concert.
