Golden Queen by Charles Rice

$2,800.00

“Golden Queen” by Charles Rice is a radiant and emotionally layered portrait that embodies strength, beauty, and divine femininity. The composition centers on a powerful Black woman draped in flowing golden fabric, seated with both vulnerability and confidence. Her posture is relaxed yet commanding, while her upward gaze creates a sense of reflection, resilience, and quiet royalty.

Rice masterfully contrasts luminous gold tones against deep earth browns and dramatic bursts of crimson red that radiate behind the figure like a halo or crown of energy. The textured background and expressive splatter techniques give the piece movement and emotional intensity, blending realism with abstraction in a signature contemporary style.

The figure’s natural hair becomes a symbolic crown, amplified by glowing red accents that frame her presence with warmth and power. Large hoop earrings and flowing garments add elegance and cultural identity, while the loose, painterly brushwork keeps the portrait soulful and alive rather than overly polished.

“Golden Queen” speaks to the sacred beauty of Black womanhood — honoring grace, endurance, sensuality, and inner power. The painting feels both regal and intimate, inviting viewers to see the subject not simply as a portrait, but as a symbol of resilience, confidence, and timeless beauty.
