Tigers Course by Charles Rice

$900.00

“Tigers Course” by Charles Rice is a contemplative and emotionally layered painting that honors the quiet discipline, focus, and solitude found within the game of golf. The composition features a lone seated golfer resting on the course, captured in a reflective moment between action and thought. Rather than emphasizing competition, Rice focuses on the emotional and mental side of the sport — patience, strategy, and inner calm.

The work blends figurative painting with abstract landscape elements, allowing the golfer’s silhouette to merge naturally into the surrounding greens, blues, and earth tones of the course. The layered textures and transparent washes create a dreamlike atmosphere, as though memory, nature, and motion are all existing together within the same space.

Rice’s expressive brushwork gives the painting movement while maintaining a sense of stillness and introspection. The seated posture and lowered gaze suggest contemplation, resilience, and the mental preparation required both in golf and in life itself. The surrounding landscape becomes symbolic of life’s journey — open, challenging, peaceful, and unpredictable all at once.

“Tigers Course” pays tribute not only to the elegance of golf culture, but also to the legacy of excellence and perseverance associated with athletes who transformed the sport. Charles Rice captures the balance between power and patience, creating a work that feels meditative, sophisticated, and deeply human.
